The JFK Limo Remained in Service

Did you know that the limousine that John F. Kennedy was assassinated in on November 22, 1963, remained in service for another 13 years before it was retired in 1977?
The reason behind this was financial.   The federal conservative federal government at the time did not was to spend additional funds for a new presidential limousine which in today’s money (2017) would cost around $1.5 million dollars.
One would assume that the limousine was either confiscated for evidence, destroyed for respect to President Kennedy, or even taken out of service by the wealthy Kennedy family, but this was not the case.   The car was immediately shipped off for clean-up and renovations and was even used by President Johnston during his administration.
In fact, the next three U.S. President’s used this car during their administrations, and each had modifications made to fit their personal needs.
